Smalltown Boy cat dance with your own cats
Searching for the Smalltown Boy cat dance usually means you want that clip with your own cats. On ReelMe, the Smalltown Boy Cats template takes one photo per cat (two slots, ginger and black in the preview), and for $3.99 you get the full routine on Bronski Beat's "Run away, turn away" chorus in about a minute. One cat is enough if that's all you have; the second spot keeps a cat from the original.

92M views"Smalltown Boy" was Bronski Beat's 1984 debut single, a synth-pop song about a gay teenager leaving home, sung in Jimmy Somerville's famous falsetto. Decades later it became a TikTok sound again: first with people, often parents, dancing to it like it was the 80s, including a duo version where one person screams into the camera with their hands on their head while the other dances behind, then they swap.
The cat version is that same duo routine done with AI. A fluffy ginger cat yells at the lens while a long-haired black cat dances in the background; at the chorus they switch places and end up dancing side by side. It works because cats screaming to a falsetto hook is absurd and slightly heartbreaking at the same time.
People typing "smalltown boy cat ai" are mostly looking for the generator behind those clips. Most of the tools used for them need two cat images, a reference dance video and the music added afterwards. The template already has the choreography and the song, so all you add is the cat photos.
Use a photo where each cat's face is fully visible and fairly large in the frame. Long-haired cats come out especially well because the fur moves with the dance. If your cats look alike, put the one with the more expressive face in the first slot: that's the one doing the screaming.

FAQ
What song is the Smalltown Boy cat dance?
"Smalltown Boy" by Bronski Beat, released in 1984. The trend uses the "Run away, turn away, run away" chorus.
Can I do the Smalltown Boy cat trend with only one cat?
Yes. Fill one slot with your cat; the other dancer stays as the cat from the original clip, or you can upload a second photo of the same cat for a twin version.
Is this the same as the human Smalltown Boy trend?
It's the same idea: one screams in front with hands on the head, the other dances behind, then they swap. The cat version just has two cats doing it.
Can I use a dog instead of a cat?
The template is built around cats, but a dog photo works too. Dogs with long fur look the most like the original.
What do I pay and when do I get it?
$3.99 once, no subscription. The video is ready in about a minute, with the original audio and no watermark.
