The scene is from Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction (1994). Vincent Vega (John Travolta) takes Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman) out to Jack Rabbit Slim's, a 1950s-themed restaurant, where she insists on entering the twist contest. The song is Chuck Berry's "You Never Can Tell". The dance is loose and playful, part twist, part improvised: the swim, the hitchhike, and Mia's V-shaped fingers dragged across her eyes, a move often compared to the Batusi from the 1960s Batman show.
The "John Travolta Pulp Fiction dance meme" usually means a GIF of this scene, often of Travolta doing the eye swipe. It shouldn't be confused with the "confused Travolta" meme, which is a different moment in the film where Vincent stands looking around, puzzled. If you want the dance, this is the one.
"How to do the Pulp Fiction dance": take off your shoes, start with a basic twist (feet planted, rotate hips and shoulders in opposite directions), then mix in the eye swipe with two fingers in a V, a swimming motion with your hands, and a hitchhike thumb over the shoulder. Keep your faces cool and slightly bored; that's the style.
For the template, use one front-facing photo per person. The slots are for the woman with the black bob and the man in the black suit, but any two people work, including friends. ReelMe isn't affiliated with the film or its studio.
