"Mi Chico" started as a summer 2026 Afro house single by the Romanian DJ and producer DJ Goja. After it caught on online, Jason Derulo reached out and the two released a new version together, with Brazilian singer Melody also on it. The dance to the hook spread with it; Derulo has said that seeing hundreds of thousands of people do the trend was a big part of the song's run. Our template uses the one-take visualizer where Derulo, in the mustard suit, dances the hook in front of his crew.

Learning it: the hook routine is short and repeats with the chorus, so it's a good one to learn in pieces. Find a mirrored tutorial, loop the eight counts of the hook at slower speed, and practise the footwork before adding the arms. Keep your knees soft, since Afro house grooves sit low and bouncy. Film from a little below chest height so your whole body is in frame.

"Who started the Mi Chico dance trend" is a fair question with a fuzzy answer: the song came first, then many creators' versions of the hook, and the dance became tied to Derulo once his version came out. You don't need to know the origin to post it; using the sound is what gets your video into the trend.

For the AI version, upload a front-facing photo with your face clear and, if possible, your upper body in view. You'll appear in the suit from the visualizer, so your own outfit doesn't matter much. ReelMe isn't affiliated with Jason Derulo, DJ Goja or their labels.
