The clip is a small terrier pulling back its lips and "laughing" so hard it looks almost human. Where it first came from is murky; versions have circulated on YouTube and TikTok for years, and the most-shared one today is a green-screen cut-out that creators drop on top of their own footage. It's used as a reply to a terrible joke, a bad take or a friend's confident plan that is obviously going to fail.

Searches for a "laughing dog meme template" or "laughing dog green screen" usually come from people who want to layer the dog over a video. That works if you only need the original terrier. If you want your dog in it, a green screen won't help, because the face is still someone else's dog. ReelMe regenerates the clip from your pet's photo, so the breed, coat and markings are yours.

"Dog laughing meme AI" searches are after exactly that. Free image tools can make a still of a grinning dog, but the meme is the motion: the head toss and the open-mouth cackle in time with the sound. That's what the template reproduces.

For the photo, pick one where your dog's face is fully visible and the mouth area isn't hidden by a toy or a hand. A three-quarter or front angle at eye level is ideal. Short-muzzled and long-muzzled dogs both work; very fluffy faces come out best in good daylight so the AI can see where the mouth is.

Green-screen versions are easy to find, but they only give you the original dog. To make the meme with your own dog, upload a photo on ReelMe and you get a finished clip with your pet laughing.

Does the video include the laugh sound?

Yes. The template keeps the original audio, so you can post it as a reaction straight away on TikTok, Reels, Shorts or in a group chat.

Will it work with a cat or another pet?

It's built for dogs, but any pet with a clearly visible face can be tried. Results are most natural with dogs, since the original is a terrier.
